# Plan Before You Die > Plan Before You Die is an online service that helps people in the United States put their accounts, papers and wishes in one place, practice with the people they choose, and keep everything current. Its free guides and tools are checked against official sources. Every guide answers first, lists its steps, and shows the official source and the date we checked each fact. This is general information, not legal advice. We never recommend a Medicare plan, insurance, or investment. ## Key facts - The plan doesn't include legal documents or advice, product recommendations, calls or meetings, or a mailed kit. Help is by email. - If your first report finds nothing to fix, you get a full refund, under the conditions in the terms (https://planbeforeyoudie.app/terms#refunds). - If you don't renew, you keep your plan. You can still view, edit and download it, and the people you chose keep their guides. New Family Drills stop until you renew. - There is one plan. It costs $499 for one person or $699 for a couple, with setup, the Family Drill, your score and your first year included. Then it's $199 a year if you renew, and you can turn renewal off anytime. - You can start free and build your plan before choosing to pay. - The plan follows the Family Readiness Standard, 25 checks your family should be able to pass if you get sick or die. - The Family Drill is a practice run where each person you choose tries their first steps. Each check is marked Tested, Set up, Told us or Missing, and the plan shows a readiness score. - Plan Before You Die is not a law firm. It doesn't draft or choose legal documents, and it never recommends a Medicare plan, insurance or investment. ## Tools - [100 questions to ask your parents](https://planbeforeyoudie.app/tools/questions-for-parents): Choose from 100 questions to ask your parents before they die.
