What should you confirm before ordering?

Does every account need a separate certified copy?

Ask each institution before ordering. Count only confirmed requests. Group bank and brokerage accounts by institution. Group life insurers, retirement and pension providers by company. Group real estate by county and vehicles by title office.

Does this confirm who can order?

No. Read the office's quoted eligibility wording and its full instructions. The office decides what proof it accepts. Record age, relationship, legal purpose and record format can change access. Talk with a lawyer in your state about legal questions.

Is this the full order price?

The result shows copy fees and any separately listed office charges. Vendor, shipping, expedited, special-record and search charges can differ. A discount may require the same record, channel and order. Confirm the complete price with the office.

When should I return?

Return when another place asks for a copy or before a new order. We recheck office sources every quarter and sweep fees in January. Ask the office to confirm current prices and timing.

How does this tool work?

  1. 1
    What it does

Find the official order page, copy fees, eligibility wording and processing time for every state, DC and New York City.

  2. 2
    How it decides

Our editorial rule adds one certified copy for each place that confirms it needs one, plus one or two spares. Count each institution, provider, county, title office or agency once. Ask them before ordering. A count remains provisional while requests are unconfirmed. Copy fees use the selected office's stated record, order and channel conditions. Listed per-order, per-copy and per-block charges stay separate.

  3. 3
    Your answers

Your counts stay in this browser. Anonymous tool-use counts contain no answers. A copied link includes your answers in its fragment. Share links and downloads only with people you choose.

  4. 4
    What it is based on

Each row links its vital-records office. New York State and New York City have separate offices. Quoted eligibility wording stays unchanged. We recheck every quarter and sweep fees in January. We recheck each official source at least once a year and update this page when one changes.

  5. 5
    What it doesn't do

This does not establish eligibility, place an order, choose a legal form or confirm an institution's document policy. Unknown cells say Not published. Copy fees can exclude additional service, shipping, search or vendor charges. Processing times are office estimates, not delivery promises. Talk with a lawyer in your state about legal questions. It covers the United States. This is general information, not legal, medical or financial advice.
